Headphones can put you in a little bubble, which is sometimes what you want, but there are times when this audio isolation is inconvenient. Want to listen to music, but still be able to hear the world around you?
Batband is a new invention from Studio Banana Things that revolutionises music on the go. Your inner soundtrack is broadcast via bone conduction, sending sounds at a frequency that can travel easily through the bones of the skull to reach the inner ear.
Rather than the usual speaker positioned over your ear, the device is worn in a band above the ear, like this:
Your commute will be an entirely new and refreshing experience; the audio can’t be heard by passers-by yet you’ll be able to hear when your stop on the train arises. And if that isn’t enough to tempt you, Batband works via Bluetooth and features a built-in microphone so you can use it to make calls too.
