The guys at UK design studio Dorothy, famous for their cheeky but cool creations, have served up a pair of prints that may well be the perfect gifts for the film fanatics and book lovers in our lives.
Two collections, one of books and the other of films, both diverse in genre but united in design because of their one shared attribute: they all have colours in their titles.
For our friend who always has her nose in a book, and can absorb the contents of a 300-page hardback faster than you can drink a cup of tea, there is The Colour of Books – a beautiful colour wheel featuring 300 literary works including Anne of Green Gables, Black Beauty, and James and the Giant Peach. It includes an index listing the featured books alphabetically, together with their authors, and the year they were published.
And for our pal who doesn’t miss a single new release at their local cinema, has all of their favourite films on both DVD and Blu-Ray (not forgetting the collectors edition with limited edition case), and a rolling subscription to Empire, there is The Colour of Cinema. This technicolour wheel takes design inspiration from the film reel, and features 408 films including Black Swan, A Clockwork Orange, and Silver Linings Playbook, complete with an A-Z key listing all of the featured films, their directors, and the year they were released.
Both colour wheels are printed on 140gsm uncoated paper measuring 70cm x 100cm, and are available to buy now for just £30 from Dorothy’s online shop.
