New Horizons: NASA’s Mission to Pluto

By -

On July 14th, NASA’s New Horizons will make its closest approach to Pluto, completing the first reconnaissance of the Solar System begun over 50 years ago.

The flyby will beam back images of the dwarf planet for the first time in over half a century of space exploration.

In celebration of this historic mission, the National Space Society has commissioned a stunning video that captures all of the previously explored planets and the spacecraft that visited them. ‘New Horizons’, created by digital artist Erik Wernquist, is a veritable feast of beautiful, high-quality visuals that depicts the timeline of our distant journeys perfectly with inspiring results.
