UK energy provider Npower has announced that they will be raising their prices, with a dual-fuel bill to go up 10.4%.
Npower will become the third major supplier to announce price rises, with SSE increasing their prices by 8.2% from the 5th November and British Gas upping their tariffs by 9.2% on the 23rd November. The Npower price hike will take effect on the 1st December.
The dual-fuel price rise will include an increase of 9.3% on electricity prices and a rise of 11.1% on gas prices. It is thought that they change will affect around 3.1 million customers in the United Kingdom, adding £137 to the average annual dual-fuel bill, which will now stand at £1,459.
Npower has said that the rise was the result of overall cost increases in delivering energy to home, raw materials and fulfilling government schemes – a view that has been echoed by all of the ‘big six’ energy companies.
