The numbers of university students in the United Kingdom seeking counselling has risen by more than one third in the last four years, according to a recent report by Help Me Investigate.
In addition, five universities have seen their numbers more than double, with the University of Glasgow seeing the biggest rise (513 students to 1180 students in four years). The other universities seeing rise of more than 50% are Lancaster University, the University of York, the University of West Scotland and Bath Spa University.
In total, 114 universities responded to a request from Help Me Investigate regarding the number of students accessing mental health services. The resulting data was then picked up by The Guardian, who produced the following visualisation:
